Bring Your Child to Work Day officially took over the Melon Local office on April 23, and for a few hours, our usual crew of marketers, strategists and Client Success pros shared the spotlight with some very important guests — the future generation of Melon leaders!
Throughout the morning, 14 kids ages 4–11 got a behind-the-scenes look at life at Melon Local, starting with an office tour where they met the teams their parents work with and saw how everything comes together.
One of the biggest highlights was the “Create Your Own Business” activity, where kids stepped into the role of entrepreneurs. From brainstorming ideas to thinking through branding, they brought creativity, confidence and some surprisingly strategic thinking to the table. It also created a fun opportunity for parents and kids to collaborate — something that perfectly reflects how we operate as a team every day.
“My son, Colton, had so much fun at Bring Your Child to Work Day that he hasn’t stopped talking about it,” says Senior Director of Client Success Kirsten Smith. “Creating his own business sparked his imagination — he’s still sketching ideas at home and already asking when he can come back.”
At the end of the day, this event wasn’t just about showing what we do. It was about showing why we do it.
“Bring Your Kids to Work Day was one of the most rewarding days we’ve had as a team,” says CEO Whitney Green-Olson. “Our HR powerhouse Kristina pulled off something special — from core values to team activities, the kids were fully engaged. Huge thanks to our ‘Office Momager’ — my mom, Clarise— for helping bring it all together. We wrapped by naming each child a future Melon Leader, and it was a great reminder of why culture matters.”
Bring Your Child to Work Day was a reminder that while the work and results matter, it’s the people behind it — and the families who support them — that make Melon Local what it is.
