Melon Local to Sponsor The Chair Project Art Charity

April 14, 2025 - Melon Local is proud to announce its sponsorship of The Chair Project, a one-of-a-kind silent art auction dedicated to fundraising for the vital non-profit work of Sanctuary, Inc., in Hopkinsville, KY, on April 18. The event — which was founded by owner and local artist Julie-Anna Carlisle — will take place from 4-8 PM CDT at Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium in Downtown Hopkinsville.

Established in 1982, Sanctuary, Inc. is a grassroots organization committed to safety, shelter and counseling for individuals and children escaping domestic violence and sexual abuse.

The Chair Project invites artists and other creative minds to make, “funkafy” or alter a chair to be auctioned off in a silent auction. These reimagined chairs will be on public display during the event, with all proceeds directly going to Sanctuary, Inc.

This cause is especially personal to Melon Local’s CEO, Whitney Green-Olson, who was born and raised in Hopkinsville, and whose mom, Clarise Green, is actively involved with the event.

“Giving back to my hometown will always mean something special to me — and supporting The Chair Project feels especially close to home,” said Green-Olson. “At Melon Local, we’re proud to support Sanctuary, Inc. and everything this project stands for: creativity, compassion and the kind of hometown spirit that sticks with you no matter where life takes you.”

As the official “libation fairy,” Melon Local’s sponsorship helps ensure that guests will enjoy not just an artful atmosphere, but good cheer and refreshments throughout the evening — all in support of a powerful mission.
