Interview with an Agent: Steve Basler

Colorado insurance agent Steve Basler originally began his insurance career in Tennessee over 20 years ago. However, he eventually found his way to Colorado in 2007, and the following year, he opened his current insurance office in Wheat Ridge — a small city located in the busy Denver–Aurora–Lakewood metro area.

In addition to his insurance office, Steve also runs and owns his own financial consulting company, Basler Academy.

We caught up with Steve to learn more about what he’s enjoyed about Melon Local so far and any advice he has for agents just starting their careers!

Melon Local: What have you enjoyed about working with Melon Local so far?

Steve Basler: I love the flexibility I have working with my own Client Success Manager. Whenever we have questions, she’s there to remind me of what we’re doing or what needs to be done.

We’ve always said this space is tough to really feel like you have a grasp of what’s going on or exactly what the money’s doing, but we think Melon Local has done as good of a job as anyone we’ve ever used — we have no complaints.

ML: That’s awesome to hear! Can you elaborate more on how we’ve been able to help you in your local market?

Steve: We’re always trying to figure out what’s the best bang for the buck. Unfortunately, in Denver, it’s just not Google. So, we recently switched our focus to Microsoft, which has proven to be a more reasonable, cost-effective measure. The cost makes a lot more sense with what we’re trying to accomplish in our market.

ML: Glad we’ve been able to find a more cost-effective route in your market. Is there anything else about Melon Local that has really stood out?

Steve: More than anything, I just like the ability that I can trust that I don’t have to do much with things, and if something isn’t working, Melon Local will let my team know if we need to change something behind the scenes. I rely on my CSM to bring everything to fruition. Everything I need is wrapped up in one.

ML: Do you have any advice for agents just starting their careers?

Steve: I would just say, get involved. Get engaged. Find someone you can trust to partner with, and then just be patient. Unfortunately, not everything gives an immediate response, or at least a response initially. Just don’t be afraid to try something and let it fail and try again. Eventually, things will work out.

At Melon Local, we’re all about forming fruitful partnerships. Whether it entails optimizing Google ads, enhancing your organic search visibility, or crafting tailor-made social media content, learn more about how we can grow together by scheduling a demo today!
