Interview with an Agent: Greg Bratcher

Originally born and raised in New Mexico, Greg Bratcher eventually made his way out to Texas and began his insurance career working in claims in 1987.

Honing his passion for customer service and helping people realize their dreams and goals, Greg opened his own insurance agency in San Angelo, TX in 2006.

Since opening his agency, he’s qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table and has enjoyed being able to help people in his community with their insurance needs. We talked with Greg about what hooked him with Melon Local and what he’s accomplished through our digital marketing services.

Melon Local: Was there anything that really stuck out to you when you first started working with us?

Greg Bratcher:  The best thing I’ve noticed with Melon Local is being able to have the one-on-one detailed phone call and having someone who wants to know more about me and my goals as opposed to what they can sell me. 

It’s kind of more like how we do business here — let’s get to know you on a personal basis, what you are trying to get out of this relationship, what you are looking for and how we can tailor a program for you to get the biggest bang for your buck. 

With prior vendors, there was zero flexibility — take it or leave it! There was no interaction other than at the end of your meeting when they were trying to get you to sign up for things. It’s truly been a partnership with Melon. I walked into it a little skeptical because of what I had experienced before.

It’s so easy to track your leads that you don’t have to worry about somebody trying to bamboozle you with a bunch of different stats. 

ML: You mentioned being skeptical at first. Did you have a bad experience with someone else before?

Greg: I tried another vendor for one year, and I got zero leads from them. I thought it was a complete waste of my time and money! 

So that kind of jaded me from considering other vendors, and then I started hearing all the success from peers who were using Melon. When I met my Client Success Manager and started fine-tuning exactly what we were trying to do, the results were fantastic. 

It’s been a much better experience overall because we’re reviewing the processes and the results on a monthly basis, so we’re fine-tuning them in real-time. It’s been a great return on our investment!

ML: That’s amazing to hear! Are there other notable results you’d like to mention? 

Greg: After about the 90-day mark, you could really see it gain traction with the number of direct clicks we had coming in. 

And for us to equal our production in a little over eight months over what we did the prior years, I would say Melon Local was a huge part of that because of how they’re targeting and placing our ads. It’s just been really, really good! 

ML: Any words of wisdom for our agents?

Greg: One of the reasons why 2021 was our best year and 2022 was an even better year is that I’ve been surrounding myself with like-minded people. 

We look for ways to overcome obstacles. If you hang around a bunch of people who just want to gripe about the obstacles and don’t offer solutions, then you’ll ultimately get burned out and not be successful. 

If you’re surrounded by people who challenge you, who motivate you, and give you ways to do things better and more efficiently, then ultimately, you will be a lot more successful in this business than just sitting back and griping about the way things are.
