Interview with an Agent: Amy Davis

Raised in Pennsylvania, Amy Davis was deeply inspired by her grandfather, a local insurance agent who took a personalized approach to customer service. After earning her degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Amy ventured to Texas, fueled by a profound desire to support individuals and engage with the community.

With a six-year tenure at a local agency under her belt, she decided to emulate her grandfather’s legacy by launching her own insurance office in Austin, TX, in 2020, before relocating to the bustling suburb of Round Rock.

While adept in customer service, Amy found the realm of digital marketing to be an entirely new challenge. She tried several marketing agencies to generate leads, but felt like nobody was quite getting her industry—at least until she met Melon Local.

We sat down with Amy to discuss how Melon Local has heightened her visibility in her competitive local landscape and aided her transition to Round Rock, where she discovered a new market to tap into.

Melon Local: What was it like trying to get your digital marketing off the ground?

Amy Davis: I really didn’t know a whole lot of people when I opened my business in the area, and I found the marketing thing to be daunting — just really daunting. I tried some other digital marketing groups, but felt like they were brand spanking new to the industry, and not just to marketing, but to insurance. When I started talking to some of my colleagues, I was referred to Melon Local. Within my first month of being with Melon, my number of clicks tripled.

ML: Have we been able to help you stand out in your local market?

Amy: This area is very competitive with about 140 other agents in the area, so I like having somebody who’s on top of the Google reviews, very intentional with the campaigns and can change them whenever we need to, like if we have a promotion coming up. I simply can shoot my Success Manager an email or text her, and I can get something done.

ML: Can you think of any challenges we’ve helped you overcome?

Amy: One of the ways Melon Local really helped me was when I moved my office about a year and a half ago. I was in a very metro area in Austin with nothing but renters around me. I moved into a residential area in the nearby area of Round Rock with nothing but homes around me. My Client Success Manager was able to tailor my marketing and campaigns to those I was trying to reach. Because of that, I’ve been able to get more homeowners.

ML: How have you enjoyed our One in a Melon customer service so far?

Amy: It’s great that I can have somebody I trust and rely on to help me with all my digital marketing needs. If I have any questions, she’s always been very receptive. The service I get is amazing, fast and effective. For what I’m paying, I get a lot! Our culture and goals are very aligned, which is important to me.

ML: Any advice for other agents trying to figure out their digital marketing?

Do your research and talk to these people who you’re looking at for your services. There is a big difference between Melon Local and other companies. There are also a lot of other agents out there willing to help if you have questions. As for me, I refer a lot of people to Melon Local!
